Fix Red Clay is a place to share information and discuss issues related to education.

We encourage our readers to state their opinions and to debate education related issues. This is why we allow comments. We put a great deal of time and energy into this blog and do not want it to be brought down by anger and hate.

Thank you,

Anne and Kim

Well said-People don't realize the damage they can do even under anonymous.

Most of the time the comments here are fine-I think. But sometimes people do get carried away. If anyone is criticized here it is usually because of their position in the district or because they put themselves out there. It would be nice if all commenters would respect the fine line Kim and Anne have put up here and try not to cross it.

Lots of well-meaning people are very angry at the "damage" already done to and continuing to be done to our children in both the Red Clay district and the State of DE due to the political ambitions, personal ambitions, and often times incompetence of those in positions of power.

It's difficult to effectively discuss educational issues in DE and how to solve the problems when our leadership doesn't always play honestly and cannot see the errors of their ways (or chooses to ignore them).

Sometimes the information we need to share is negative because of the deeds of others.

I agree with the anoymous comment before mine. Especially this part:"Sometimes the information we need to share is negative because of the deeds of others." Trashing people who are on our side is what I don't like.

People who mean well, who can be especially persistent, should not be attacked when it is clear they really care. They might not go about things in the same manner others would, but that is ok. Everyone is different.

Negative information is fine except when the negative information is about someone. You can debate and disagree with each other, but when people take it to a personal level that is where it becomes a problem.

Many times my comments on how I believe communication can be improved, or that the district needs to provide more information to the community, are commented on in a very negative way, which I accept. However those who reject those comments offer no recommendations. I have to wonder why they are so negative, but offer no recommendations.

A negative perspective is not the problem, although it does get a bit boring, redundant, and more like an echo chamber sometimes. It is the nastiness and mean-spirited comments that I find most objectionable.

The other thing I do not care for is the way a post gets co-opted. Fixredclay poses an interesting question or comment, and the next thing you know, someone has taken it off track to make a point about a different issue that is obviously bugging them. Anne and Kim ask about class size, for example, and someone jumps in with comments about their child's principal, and the original conversation gets derailed.

fixredclay has a dual standard -- just goes to show that you are not journalists, just gossipers.

Saying they don't want their blog brought down by anger and hate is not a "dual standard". They don't want people attacked because you don't agree with them is all I think they are saying. You are just one of the jerks they don't want ruining things here.

Where have they printed gossip and when did they claim to be journalists?

Let's talk about The Right Choice, a new Alternative School opening in early December. Did I miss something somewhere about this school?

How well do you think this or any blog would do if they did not accept "anonymous" entries? What if you had to put your name with your comments? Then these personal attacks would probably decrease or go away all together. And yes, i signed this anonymous...

A cryptic blogger name is no less anonymous than anonymous. Speaking of information, what do you think of this.

I like the idea. I hope it's not run by a crony, like Friends of the family. Who will be in the Telegraphy road building now?
